News Update – September 2021

Welcome Back!

It was a very busy Summer at the Studios, with Workshops, Short Break Days and ActivAte all taking place. The Mushroom team – teachers and students – all worked really hard throughout, and Ralphie’s Cafe did a grand job with the food for ActivAte. Thanks all!

Quiz Night postponed to 4 December

We were planning a Quiz Night for October, but this has been postponed to 4 December. Further details will be available soon, but make a note of the date as we hope to see as many of you as possible.

Life-saving equipment

You may have noticed a bright yellow box has appeared outside the building. This will soon house an AED (Automated External Defibrilator) thanks to the Co-op Community Fund. AEDs help those experiencing sudden cardiac arrest. It’s a sophisticated, yet easy-to-use, medical device that can analyze the heart’s rhythm and, if necessary, deliver an electrical shock, or defibrillation, to help the heart re-establish an effective rhythm. Once installed the equipment will be available to anyone in the local community, and the code to access it will be provided when calling 999.

Supporting the Charity

There are several ways you can support the Charity if you want to….

Essex Lottery tickets are just £1 each and half of that comes directly to us. Enter before the end of October and you could will £1000 in John Lewis vouchers – that’s in addition to the weekly cash prizes of up to £25k.

If you’re shopping on Amazon, you can select us as your charity on Amazon Smile and we’ll receive a small amount from every purchase. It costs you nothing, but soon adds up.

Lastly, if you’re concerned about the changes in the energy market (or even if you’re not), or if your gas/electric provider is one that has gone out of business, I can help you move to another provider and give the commission that I would usually receive to the Charity. Additionally, if you were to change your energy, broadband and mobile they guarantee that you will save at least £50 a year. Get in touch if you want to know more.

Building Repairs

We’ve got some unexpected building work in the next few weeks. The guttering that was installed when we moved in has buckled and caused significant damage to sections of the roof, so both are being replaced. We’ll be doing everything possible to keep disruption to a minimum, but please be aware of this when coming to the Studios as it may impact on the available parking.

Thank You

As always, thank you for your ongoing support, directly and indirectly. If you want to know more about the work of the Charity at any time, have suggestions for fundraising or want to get more involved (we can but hope) then get in touch!
